Brief History
  • In 1929, the late Pres. Manuel L. Quezon declared the westernmost part of the province as a resettlement area, historically known as the Mallig Plains Resettlement Area.
  • Mallig was created, from barrios of Tumauini, Ilagan and Gamu, on April 08, 1952 by virtue of House Bill No. 678
  • It was inaugurated as a town on April 04, 1953 with the former barrio Olango as the seat of government.
  • The town was named after the Mallig River that traverses it.

Mallig is one of the leading rice producers within the Mallig plains
