ALFONSO LISTA
Places to See
  • Magat Reservoir (Brgy. Sto. Domingo)
  • Pibkan Waterfalls (Brgy. Dolowog)
  • Mysterious, huge and relatively unknown stone walls stand incongruously at Brgy. Namillangan and are located about 15 kms. south of Sitio Pabalay.  First thought to be the lost Spanish fortress of Isabela (built in the early 1800s), they are now claimed by scholars to date from about 2000 BC, based on tools found in the area.
Brief History

  • Alfonso Lista was formerly a big barangay of Mayoyao called Mun-u-upag (meaning “bubbles of foam”) by the early Ifugaos,
  • It was later renamed Potia (from the word putiak, a phenomenon wherein plants and flowers in the area open their pods as they dry).
  • From the barrios of Potia, Dolowog, San Juan, San Quintin, Cabicalan, Pinto, Busilac, Sta. Maria, and Namillangan in the municipal district of Mayaoyao, Alfonso Lista was made into a separate municipality in 1955 by virtue of Republic Act No. 1222
  • It was renamed after its first mayor on December 15, 1988 by virtue of Republic Act No. 6687.
