| Brief History |
- Mapanas was formerly a part of Palapag and Gamay
- It was first settled by hunters from Palapag running away from the Pulahanes Revolt.
- The town’s name was derived from the word meaning “having snake prints.”
- Mapanas became a separate municipality on June 18, 1966 by virtue of Republic Act No. 4762.
