BACOLOD


  • The ruins of the Spanish-era Fort Almonte, in Brgy. Liangan East, is located 4.5 kms. from the town proper.  
  • Pagawayan Falls, in Brgy. Pagawayan, is located 32 kms. From Tubod.  It consists of three mini-waterfalls.

ILIGAN CITY


  • The City Hall, built in 1957, is located on the 47-m. (130-ft.) high Buhanginan Hill.
  • The Anahaw Apmpitheater, located southeast of Buhanginan Hill and 2.3 kms. from the city, is the biggest open amphitheater in Mindanao and a venue for theater, sports tournaments and parties.
  • The Macapagal-Macaraeg Ancestral House is the ancestral home of Presidents Diosdado Macapagal and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.  It is now a museum housing their memorabilia.
  • Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel
  • Around Iligan City are 24 waterfalls. The 117-m. high Maria Cristina Falls, in Brgy. Maria Cristina, is supplied by the Agus River and is located 8.5 kms. southeast of the city. The waterfall was harnessed to provide hydroelectric power, since 1952, for the 467 MW Agus VI Hydroelectric Plant.  It is available for public viewing on Saturdays and Sundays, from 11am-3pm.  A road leads from the checkpoint to an observation platform next to the power plant.  One can also look down at the falls from a bridge.
  • The two-tiered Limunsudan Falls, in Brgy. Rogongon, is located 54 kms. (a 3-hr. drive) from the city near the eastern boundary with Bukidnon.  It is said to be the country's highest waterfall at 317 m. (870 ft.).  Its 393-ft. lower cascade is higher than Maria Cristina Falls' 117-m. (320-ft.) drop.  Bring a guide.
