MALASIQUI


  • The Church of St. Idelfonsus was first built in 1746 by Fr. Luis Delfin, burned in 1763, rebuilt from 1773 to 1780 by Fr. Salvador Tapias, destroyed by fire on February 29, 1820, repaired in 1823, burned again in 1878, damaged again during the 1880 earthquake,, rebuilt in 1885 by Fr. Juan Cardaba but was destroyed during the March 16, 1892 earthquake.  The present structure was built by Fr. Salvador Millan in 1897. 

MANAOAG


  • The hilltop Church of Our Lady of Manaoag was built in 1720 by Capt. Gaspar de Gamboa and his wife Doña Agata Yangta and donated to the Dominicans on June 8, 1722. Its belfry was demolished due to the 1880 earthquake and the church was damaged during the March 16, 1892 earthquake. It was burned by insurgents on May 10, 1898.  The church was rebuilt from 1901 to 1906 by Fr. Mariano L. Pacis, improved in 1912 and its present facade was completed from 1931 to 1932 with the construction of the dome and two opposite wings.  The church was damaged during World War II.  The church houses the miraculous, 1.8-m. high, hardwood and ivory image of Nuestra Señora de Manaoag or Apo Baket, patroness of the sick, the helpless and benefactor of the needy.  It was made by Mexican artisans early in the 17th century. The image was canonically crowned on April 21, 1926.
  • The Virgin’s Well, located in the outskirts of the town, is noted for its curative springs.

MANGALDAN

MANGATAREM


  • The town’s present Church of St. Raymond Peñafort replaced the one built by Fr. Joaquin Perez but burned in 1862.  Its foundation was laid by Fr. Manuel Alvarez de Manzano in 1851, continued by Fr. Suarez until 1875 and finished by Fr. Vicente Iztequi in 1888.  Fr. Iztequi also built the present convent from 1875 to 1886.   The church was considerably damaged during the July 16, 1990 earthquake.
  • Manleluag Hot Spring National Park, in Sitio Manluluag, Brgy. Malabobo, was declared as a national park in 1940 and is located eight kilometers west of the town.  This 92-hectare hill resort and medicinal hot spring is maintained by the Bureau of Forest Development and is a 7-km. uphill climb along the highway.  There are rooms for overnight stays.
